The Skylight Installation Process
Installations typically take between 2-5 days depending on a variety of
factors including the size and complexity of the skylight and the objects
in the attic that are in the path of the skylight design.
1. The first step in the process is to determine the design and placement
of the skylight. Once there is a plan for the skylight it must be marked
out in the room and on the roof.
2. The second step is to setup for the install. This begins with establishing a protected
path to and from the skylight as well as containing the dust the debris using plastic
and drop clothes.
3. Next the skylight must be positioned on the roof and the whole cut out
where it will be placed. Carefull consideration of the roof joists must be taken
into account during this step so as to maintain the structural integrety of the roof.
It should be noted here that a well installed skylight well actually make a roof stronger
and more stable.
